How to draw anchor bracket with autocad 2012

In this autocad Cad tutorial you’ll learn how to draw anchor bracket. Something like this;

1. Open a new drawing. Click New autocad-tutorial 

2. Make sure Ortho mode is ON, (it ON when it glow in blue)

click the icon to turn it ON or OFF. (or press F8 to toggle)
3. Type z [Space bar], type e [Space bar]. This will zoom extents your drawing area.
4. Make sure you have this requirement Layers for your drawing.

5. Make sure layer 0 is selected as current layer.

6. Click Rectangleautocad-tutorial-rectangle specify first corner point at 0,0. Type 0,0 [Enter].

Specify other corner point at 2,1. Type 2,1 [Enter].

7. Click Line autocad-tutorial-line, draw a single line from top midpoint to bottom midpoint. (Use object snap to help)

8. Click Offset autocad-tutorial-offset, specify offset distance to 0.1. Type 0.1 [Enter].

Offset both side.

9. Click Line autocad-tutorial-line, draw a single line from left edge, to middle line through its midpoints.

10. Click Circle, autocad-tutorial-ex13-circle specify center of the circle at the midpoint of newly created line. Click at the midpoint.

Specify radius to 0.15, type 0.15 [Enter]. Press [Esc] few times to end circle command.
11. Click newly created line,

press [Del] to delete it.

12. Click Mirror autocad-tutorial-mirror, click on circle edge as object to be mirror.

press [Enter] to end object selection.
Click at top endpoint of center line as first mirror line,

click at bottom endpoint of center line as second mirror line.

Press [Enter] when asked about deleting the source object. Make sure is N for No.

Press [Esc] few times to end mirror command.

13. Click center line

and press [Del] to delete the line.

14. Click Chamfer autocad-tutorial-chamfer, type d [Enter] (to specify chamfer distance).

type 0.1 [Enter] for first distance.

Type 0.1 [Enter] for second distance.

Click on first line and the the second line to chamfer.

Repeat this picking step and apply to other 3 corners.

15. Click Line autocad-tutorial-line, draw 3 line as shown;

16. Click Offset autocad-tutorial-offset, specify offset distance to 0.2. Type 0.2 [Enter].
Offset the vertical line to right side.

17. Click Offset autocad-tutorial-offset, specify offset distance to 1. Type 1 [Enter].
Offset the second vertical line to right side.

18. Click Extend,

Click at newly created vertical line as extend boundary,

Press [Enter] to end boundary selection.
Click on the line we want to extend,

Repeat this step for next line.

Press [Esc] few times to end Extend command.
18. Click Trim, autocad-tutorial-ex13-line-trim select all 5 lines by clicking bottom right corner to upper left corner (selecting by green box, select right to left. Read autocad tutorial about selecting objects). This will turn all 5 lines become cutting edge.

Press [Space bar] to confirm selection.
Click at all extend line outside the object (at pointed arrows).

Press [Esc] few times to end trim command.
19. Click Chamfer autocad-tutorial-chamfer, type d [Enter] (to specify chamfer distance).

type 0.25 [Enter] for first distance and type 0.25 [Enter] for second distance.
Add chamfer at both two corner.

20. Using line, draw a cross line as shown (midpoint to midpoint);

21. Using circle, draw a circle at midpoint of newly created line at 0.25 radius.

Delete the guide line after circle drawn.
22. Change current layer to Hidden layer.

Click Line autocad-tutorial-line, draw 2 line to represent hidden line by the circles.

Click Trim, autocad-tutorial-ex13-line-trim trim off the excess hidden line.

Repeat this step for the single hole at side view.

23. Click Offset autocad-tutorial-offset, type t [Enter]. This will offset object by through option.
Click at hidden line,

Click at center of single hole as offset through point.

You’ll get this offset.

Repeat this step for holes at left side.

24. Click at newly created center lines,

change it layer properties to Center Line layer.


Click and stretch the center line a little bit.

25. Change current layer to CENTER LINE,

Click Annotate>Dimensions>Center Mark

Click on through hole to mark its center mark.

26. Change current layer to DIM layer,

click Linear,

Click at each line endpoints to pull out the dimension like this;

27. For dimensioning diameter of the through hole, click Diameter,


click on the circle edge and pull out the dimension.

Now we need to add leader to call out chamfer size, click Multileader, click on chamfer edge and and the leader.
